I am on a mission,..to sew for myself…except most patterns are drafted for a B-cup and uh…I haven’t been that “small” since high school.   So enters the need to do a Full Bust Adjustment or FBA.  I have not even heard of a FBA until about 2 month ago and oh man the intimidation.

But I like challenges and this one is a whopper!

  1. Do I start with a Big 4 pattern and follow tutorials on how to adjust them to accommodate the tata’s OR
  2. Do I draft a bodice sloper, compare and adjust?

The answer is YES!  So I have a wedding to attend next week and I really want to make this awesome pattern, Ashland from Sew Liberated.  This size range is awesome in that it includes sizes for us curvy gals and it allows you to grade up to a D cup!  Baby steps.

I am also currently drafting (version 2) of my very own bodice sloper.  I purchased an online course from Burda Academy to draft a 5 piece sloper about a year ago and I am just now getting to it (I sure wish I would have done it when I could have asked questions from the instructor).  The instructor Meg Healy does a fantastic job and the videos showing you how to measure yourself and the actual drafting are awesome!

The reason I am on version 2…soon to be 3 is my self measuring technique.  I absolutely should have measured twice!

Once I finish making my sloper using the Burda course, I want to compare it to 1) the Craftsy bodice sloper class and 2) the free bodice sloper tutorial from Melly Sews.

I will let you know how it goes!

Happy measuring…
